The two were set to be arraigned Wednesday at Phoenix Municipal Court but instead entered the plea to both counts through their lawyer on Monday, Phoenix prosecutor Esteban Gomez said.
The Wilcoxes tore down the 105-year-old home located just south of downtown last summer and said they were unaware it was historic. They characterized it as rundown; city historic preservation officials disagree. Attorneys for both sides will meet Jan. 26 for a pretrial conference.
The defense could request a continuance, prosecutors could offer a plea, the Wilcoxes could contest the issue and go to trial, or they could change their plea.
