To Find Jesus, Take the Indirect Road

May 18, 2005 (By Jon Garrido) - I was raised a Roman Catholic and automatically with rote memory, if I say an Our Father, without thinking, without pause, I continue on with a Hail Mary. We have been conditioned to believe if we want to find God, we must pray continuously. Years of saying Rosaries leaves me empty and I think praying to God in this fashion, we automatically superficially pray without deep profound thought.

It is not only Catholics who fall into these practices. I am continuously amazed how some of my Protestant business acquaintances can recite verse after verse of scripture and yet are some of the most bigoted and prejudice people in our community. They too superficially pray reading the scriptures.

It is no small wonder we can not find Jesus on this supposedly straight road to Him. I believe Jesus taught the road to Him is not direct but through use of the "indirect road." 

I had an epiphany on May 18, 2000, when I realized Jesus does not advocate worship as much as he emphasized the road to the Father is through Him and the road to Jesus is through the Kingdom of God.

Jesus taught the Kingdom that matters is not in Heaven, but the one we find ourselves in now: sustaining and sanctifying life, in the here and now of home, family, community and society. The Kingdom of God is in the humble details of what you eat for breakfast and how you love your neighbor. This does not necessarily mean the family next door but rather people in other neighborhoods regardless of race, social class, skin color, religion, political affiliation, economic status or age.

Jesus preached the Kingdom of God is an egalitarian society that welcomes people of all races and social classes, that is characterized by love and not polarization, that cares most for its weakest members, that stands for justice and righteousness in a world enamored with selfishness and decadence. A society in which members compete for the privilege of serving one another - this is what Jesus meant by the Kingdom of God.

From the above definition, these clauses have the greatest significance: ....that cares most for its weakest members, that stands for justice and righteousness in a world enamored with selfishness and decadence...... 

The weakest members are the poor by all that we value as the most precious members of our society because their prayers to our Lord in thanksgiving, for the gifts we provide them, represent our key to Heaven: Our continuation of ourselves in fellowship with our Lord. Therefore, because they are dependent on others to nourish, sustain and educate them, the poor are the weakest members of our society and consequently, are the ones who need the most protection. As such, sins against the poor are the most vile acts against God. It is not only traditional "sins" but inadequate educational facilities, nourishment, child care, and support that if not provided, become our failures.

To alienate anyone, child or adult, is a direct alienation of the Holy Spirit who resides within us. For it was Jesus who said the Kingdom of God is within us, within our hearts and the Holy Spirit who resides in you is the same Holy Spirit who resides in everyone in the world. We are thus all connected to each other by the one Holy Spirit. 

In Jesus' vision and program, the Kingdom of God is always available and one enters it by a lifestyle of radical egalitarianism. Jesus himself does not announce its imminent actuality but its permanent possibility.

To serve your neighbor means living in an egalitarian society and not just in name only but as true committed members. This is how we glorify the Father and His son, Jesus.

To glorify the Father and Jesus one must serve the Kingdom of God and not just for one day. Serving the Kingdom of God is a lifestyle and the service you provide always brings you a gift in return. The people you serve will in turn pray for you in thanksgiving. The is the circle of salvation. This circle will complete itself and your salvation will be assured, not only by your acts, but the change in you from doing good. A dramatic change will be forthcoming in you and once done, one day when you are no longer searching, when you least expect it, the presence of Jesus will fill your senses, your heart and soul for on that day, the "in direct road" will become the true road to Jesus. Off in the distance, Jesus will be walking toward you to greet you into His Kingdom. 

The question for you today and every day of your life should be: what are you doing to serve your neighbor?

Para Encontrar a Jesús, Tome el Camino Indirecto

Julio 4, 2005 - Fui levantado a un católico romano y automáticamente con memoria de rutina, si digo a un Nuestro Padre, sin el pensamiento, sin la pausa, yo continúo con un Avemaría. Hemos sido condicionados para creer si queremos encontrar Dios, nosotros debemos orar continuamente. Años de decir los Rosarios salen mí vacío pero también pienso orar a Dios en esta moda, nosotros automáticamente oramos superficialmente sin profundo profundo pensó.

Es no sólo católicos que caen en estas prácticas. Soy asombrado continuamente cómo algunos de mis conocidos protestantes de negocio pueden recitar verso después que verso de escritura y mas son algunos de las personas de prejudious más intolerantes y en nuestra comunidad. Ellos también oran superficialmente la lectura las escrituras.

No es maravilla pequeña nosotros no podemos encontrar a Jesús en esto el camino según cabe suponer recto a El. Creo que Jesús Le enseñó el camino a El no es directo pero por el uso del "el camino indirecto."

Tuve una epifanía en el 18 de mayo de 2000, cuando yo me dí cuenta de que Jesús no recomienda el culto tanto como él Le acentuó el camino al Padre está por El y por el camino a Jesús está por el Reino de Dios.

Jesús enseñó el Reino que importa no está en el Cielo, pero el uno nosotros nos encontramos en ahora: sosteniendo y la vida santificadora, en el aquí y ahora de en casa, la familia, la comunidad y la sociedad. El Reino de Dios está en los detalles humildes de lo que usted come para el desayuno y cómo usted adora a su vecino. Esto no significa necesariamente la familia al lado pero las personas en otros vecindarios de cualquier modo de carrera, la clase social, el color de piel, la religión, la afiliación política, la posición o la edad económicas.

Jesús predicó el Reino de Dios es una sociedad igualitaria que da la bienvenida a personas de todo compite y las clases sociales, eso es caracterizado por el amor y no polarización, eso cuida la mayoría del para sus miembros más débiles, eso significa la justicia y rectitud en un mundo enamorado con el egoísmo y la decadencia. Una sociedad en las que miembros compiten para el privilegio de porción el uno al otro - esto es qué Jesús significó por el Reino de Dios.

Del encima de la definición, estas cláusulas por el momento tienen el significado más grande: ....that cuida la mayoría del para sus miembros más débiles, eso significa la justicia y rectitud en un mundo enamorado con el egoísmo y la decadencia. .....

Los miembros más débiles son el pobre por todo que valoramos como los miembros más preciosos de nuestra sociedad porque sus oraciones a nuestro Señor en la acción de gracias para los obsequios que nosotros los proporcionamos representan nuestra llave al Cielo, nuestra continuación de nosotros mismos en la confraternidad con nuestro Señor.

Por lo tanto, porque ellos son dependientes en otros para alimentar, sostener y educar ellos, sea los miembros más débiles de nuestra sociedad y consecuentemente, son los que necesitan las la mayoría de las protecciones. Cuando tan, los pecados contra el pobre son los actos más viles contra Dios. Es los "pecados" no sólo tradicionales pero las facilidades, el alimento, el cuidado de niño, y el apoyo educativas inadecuadas que si no proporcionado, llega a ser nuestros fracasos.

Para enajenar cualquiera, el niño o el adulto, son una enajenación directa del Espíritu Santo que reside dentro de nosotros. Para lo era Jesús que dijo que el Reino de Dios está dentro de nosotros, dentro de los corazones y el Espíritu Santo que residen en usted es el mismo Espíritu Santo que reside en todos en el mundo. Nosotros así todo se conecta uno al otro por el un Espíritu Santo.

En Jesús' la visión y el programa, el Reino de Dios está siempre disponible y uno lo entra por un estilo de vida del igualitarismo radical. Jesús él mismo no anuncia su realidad inminente pero su posibilidad permanente. Para servir sus medios de vecino que viven en una sociedad igualitaria y no apenas en el nombre miembros sólo pero como verdaderos cometidos. Esto es cómo glorificamos el Padre y a Su hijo, Jesús.

Para glorificar el Padre y a Jesús uno debe servir el Reino de Dios y no apenas para un día. La porción el Reino de Dios es un estilo de vida y el servicio que usted proporciona siempre le traen un obsequio en el regreso. Las personas que usted sirve hacen ora en cambio para usted en la acción de gracias. El círculo de la salvación. Este círculo se completará y su salvación se asegurará, no sólo por sus actos, pero por el cambio en usted de hacer bueno. Un cambio dramático será eminente en usted y una vez hecho, un día cuando usted es no buscar más largo, cuando usted menos lo espera, la presencia de Jesús llenará sus sentidos, el corazón y el alma para en ese día, el "en el camino directo" llegará a ser el camino verdadero a Jesús. Lejos a lo lejos, Jesús estará andando hacia usted saludarle en Su Reino.

¿La pregunta para usted hoy y cada día de su vida debe ser: qué hace para servir usted a su vecino?
