CBS 5 News Anchor Catherine Anaya Joins Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors
Phoenix, AZ The Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (AZHCC) has announced that CBS 5 News anchor Catherine Anaya has been elected by the board of directors to fill the vacancy left by a previous resignation. Her term begins immediately and will run through December 2006.
Anaya, a two-time Emmy award-winning journalist, previously anchored the weekday morning and noon newscasts for KPNX-TV, the NBC affiliate in Phoenix, Arizona. During her six years there, Anaya also worked as a health reporter. She helped launch the award-winning breast cancer awareness program Buddy Check 12.
Shortly after her arrival at CBS 5 News, Phoenix Magazine named Catherine 'Best TV Newcomer' in its 2003 Best of the Valley issue. She is an active member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, a participant of Valle Del Sols Hispanic Leadership Institute Class of 2004 and a board member of the Arizona Latino Media Association. Its an honor to have been elected to an esteemed board of community leaders, said Anaya. Im anxious to jump in and contribute to the growth and prosperity of our booming Latino business community.
